In topic Room five has been making a diorama. We made trees out of twigs, moss and dyed sheep wool. Here is Jake's Alex's and my diorama. Hope you like it.

Maori Place Names

In class we have been learning about Maori place names, because it is  Te Wiki O Te Reo Maori week. We got to choose a Maori place name. I chose Ngahere. Here is my DLO about Ngahere,  hope you enjoy it.

"G" Spelling

In class we have been learning about different spelling sounds. We made a slideshow and did sentences on all the different sounds.  I enjoyed writing all the different sentences. Here is Sophie's and my slideshow.
 

Camp

Room 5 went to camp at Hanmer Springs on the 20th of November. We made a slideshow about what happened.  I hope you like my slideshow.

Pet Day

Awahono School had pet day at the start of term four. We made a slideshow about what happened.  I enjoyed seeing all the pets that were there. Here is Sophie's and my slideshow. Hope you enjoy it.

measuring

We have been learning about measuring. We measured the netball court and recorded the length and width of it. We also figured out what the perimeter was. Next we made a DLO about measuring the netball court. I enjoyed being outside in the sun. Here is Sophie's and my slide show.

Stop Motion Animation

In class we have been learning how to make stop motion animation. Our topic was a kiwi in the forest and a predator which is chasing it. I learned to make sure to have the characters move smoothly.  I enjoyed making all the strange things happen.

The Titanic

We have been reading Infobytes about the Titanic. The Titanic was a huge ship that set sail to New York ,but it didn't make it! Have a look at Sophie's and my slide show to find out why. Hope you enjoy it. We looked at a video and got facts off it. Next time we should  look at more facts.

Pompeii

 In our class we have been learning about Pompeii. We read a Infobyte about Pompeii. We made a DLO, about Pompeii and used words that described what it would be like if you were a survivor. Here is mine. Hope you enjoy it.

In Room 5 we have been learning to write a reflection on our writing. Here is my reflection.

Report

I think that I did fine in my report but maybe next time I could describe a little bit more about my topic. I learned that I need to proofread my work so I don’t make too many  mistakes. I still need to work on spelling words correctly because sometimes I don’t know how to write them correctly. When I posted my report on my blog I wanted to try to write more words. I enjoyed writing the report itself  because I love writing. It was hard to  finish because there were a few distractions that slowed me down.

Collaboration I found working with a buddy easier than working by myself. In our group we were very focused and concentrated on our topic. We could have been better at talking with each other and communicating with ourselves. Still I think we were a great group.

The Moa

For writing we have been doing a report about the moa. First we researched the moa and wrote facts. After that we made a document and wrote a report in paragraphs and then we made a slide show.  Hope you enjoy the slide show.
 

Stop Motion Animation

Room 5 was  learning  about stop motion animation. So we went with Mrs Hahn and she showed us how to make a slide show. Then we had to think up a story for our slide show. My story was about Poke'mon. Hope you enjoy my slide show.

Fraction

We have been learning about fractions. We were asked to make a slide show or  a drawing, so I made a drawing with  my buddy Miro I hope you enjoy.

The Tuatara

We have been learning about native animals. First we wrote about the kakapo, then kiwi, and now the tuatara. Here is Sophie's and my slide show  about the tuatara .

Reading

Last term room 5 read story bites. We were told to describe the castle in the story so here is a drawing.

The Kakapo

We have been learning to write a report so we did a slide show on the kakapo. We have also been learning about native birds so we chose the kakapo as the one to research first. So here is my slide show of the kakapo.

in room 5 we have been learning to do spelling sounds and the one we have been working most recently is the "ar" sound here is Deakyn's, Miro's, and mine

Typing Tutor

I have been learning how to do Typing Tutor which lets us type better than before. I have found doing full stops and commas hard because my fingers are not used to it,how ever the hardest thing is not looking at the keys.
